Thanks, Rick, For Getting Me In Trouble With My Wife

By fandorka

Part of my wife Beth’s morning routine in the morning is to watch The Today Show. This morning, I had the luck of watching with her, and low and behold who appeared on my screen with Matt Lauer but Rick Cooper, technical director of Cooper Pest Solutions in Lawrenceville, N.J.

Rick, one of the foremost bed bug experts in the country (not only as a board certified entomologist with a national reputation but as someone who is in the field treating these pests on a daily basis), was providing tips for parents who are taking their kids off to college this week on how to protect them from picking up bed bugs and bringing them home. As usual, he was authoritative, informative and presented the industry in an incredibly positive light. (He also managed to plug Bed Bug Central, a great bed bug resource site the company has set up. Make sure you check it out yourselves.)

So how did Rick get me in trouble with my wife? Well, he provided the eminently sensible advice of getting a mattress cover to put on before you let your kids sleep on their college beds. Beth turned to me and said, “Why didn’t we do that for Ryan?”

Color me embarrassed — I guess I should have talked with Rick first.

Don’t take my word for it — click here to watch it yourself.

Congratulations, Rick — thanks for putting the industry is such a wonderful light.
