Headlines That Make My Head Hurt

By fandorka

“Pest killers”? Really?

Here’s the thing: The story itself is positive for the industry, but what on Earth was the point of phrasing the headline that way? This is one of those headlines that the editors need to hear about so they stop making those kinds of stupid headlines.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, I’d like to offer my congratulations to this company and this company for helping protect part of this. Other than the headline, it’s a positive story and worht a read.

  1. Gerry Weitz Says:

So here is the problem. The name of the company in the “Pest Killer” article is SUREKIL! Aren’t the newspapers simply going with the flow provided by a pest control industry that puts the accent of the word, KILL? Surekil certainly has fallen into this trap!

I have been advocating that we as an industry move away from names that focus on “the kill” factor of our jobs. We need to be redirected toward the “quality of life” aspect of our profession in most all public relations and marketing.
