OK, I’m man enough to admit it: When the NPMA shortened the show hours this year, I thought they were crazy. Well, I’m here to tell you that Rob Lederer, Alexis Wertz, Dominique Stumpf and the rest of the team there clearly knew something I didn’t. Not only was the traffic robust, it was a downright traffic jam (and in the trade show world, that’s definitely a good thing).
I managed to make to the show floor a couple of times while at the show, but it was truly hard to move through the aisles because it was so packed. I nearly missed appointments because I couldn’t sneak away from my booth because so many people wanted to stop by and talk about our magazine. I also noticed that when I was able to break free, everyone else’s booths seemed equally filled with PMPs clamoring to do business with them. The general mood, at least as I saw it, was optimism about where the industry is going in 2010. I had meetings with many people, and they were almost unanimously positive and upbeat, a sea-change from last year when the crash of the economy put a damper on the mood at the show.
Congratulations again to the team at the NPMA for clearly outthinking me on the issue of show hours and creating excellent traffic for the show’s vendor supporters.

It was a great show and yes I did have a great time. I even had a chance to talk with you for about 15 minutes. I never did see Grasso, but I think you mentioned he was running around – all over the place. Keep up the good work and NPMA did an outstanding job this year. Kudo’s to all.
